Director, screenwriter and producer, among the most talented and applauded on the global cinematographic scene in the last twenty years, Pablo Larraín debuts with his feature film Fuga (2006), thanks to which heimmediately captures the attention of international critics.
His success was confirmed in 2008 with the release of Tony Manero, winner of Best Film and Best Actor at Torino Film Festival. Next come Post mortem (2010) and No (2012), a strongly political movie that concluded his trilogy regarding the Chilean dictatorship, which, in addition to the Art Cinema Award of Quinzaine des Réalisateurs of Cannes, gets an Oscar nomination. El Club (2015), Silver Bear Award in Berlin, is followed by Neruda and Jackie (2016), Osella Award for Best Screenplay at Mostra di Venezia and three-times Oscar nominee. After Ema (2019), Larraìn focused on the tv show Apple Lisey’s story (2020), after which he returns to the big screen with Spencer (2022). His last ongoing projects are El Conde and Maria, that he will shortly begin filming with Angelina Jolie in the shoes of the soprano singer Maria Calls.
During the masterclass, in conversation with the director of the National Museum of Cinema, Domenico De Gaetano, Pablo Larraín will retrace the steps of his career, marked by a point of view that is free from rethoric and literal reconstruction of the truth.
