Biodiversity and Wildlife Conservation

FRIDAY, 7 JUNE
CINEMA MASSIMO – MNC SALA SOLDATI
3:30 PM

The conservation of African wildlife as told by the people directly involved. The Global Conservation Corps (GCC) is a non-profit organization founded in 2014 to conserve wildlife through education, development, and training of conservation professionals. The aim is to fight poaching, particularly in the Timbavati Nature Reserve neighboring the Kruger National Park, South Africa. The Future Rangers program entails a lengthy educational course starting in early school age through to adulthood. The course provides the local communities with knowledge resources, raises awareness about the surrounding habitat, and offers work opportunities that bring real economic benefit, which illegal activities do not. The Nzatu Food Group is based in Zambia and is a model of regenerative agriculture that sustainably produces food without interfering with natural resources, while conserving the wildlife habitat. In joint collaboration with the GCC and other organizations, the Group works to mitigate climate change through agroforestry projects and improve the social and economic livelihood of local communities.
